Day 10 - Fri 29th Mar 2024

Participants: Tam & Kev

I sleep reasonably well, but wake up a lot, which is hardly surprising as I'd slept so much the previous day. I've still got a bad back and stomach ache, but not as bad as yesterday.

Tam is not in the room and messages to say that she's been to the gym and is now sat by the spa pool and has 2 beds if I want to join her. I am amazed - firstly by there being 2 sunbeds available at the tiny pool, but mostly that she has been to the gym again! I join her and then get breakfast, a pastry and a few bits of fruit. We laze around the pool area, mostly in the shade as it's 30 degrees.

Lunch is ordered through the app. In theory you can order anything off the menu and they will deliver it to nearly anywhere on the ship. Unfortunately we are in one of the few places that they don't deliver, so Tam goes off to an area where you can get food and comes back with our order. We asked for Toasted Turkey Sandwich with crisps and a coke with lemon. She receives a non-toasted turkey sandwich with no crisps and a coke with no lemon in. Not a raging success. I'd read that the delivery service could be a bit hit and miss both in its accuracy and in the time you might have to wait. Seems that they are correct. It's a really good idea, but not implemented as well as it could be.

We lie around the pool until 3.00 pm when we go back to the room and sit on the balcony and I'm still not feeling right.
After showering we go to the Adagio bar where I order a Negroni, but can't drink it.

We head to Sabatini's - a speciality restaurant - where I start with Burrata Caprese, which is pretty tasteless.

Basically a large ball of mozzarella on some tomatoes.

The next 2 courses are Lobster Tortolini and Chicken Breast in Lemon Sauce. Both are way too salty.

I think this was Tam's starter.

Tam's mushroom risotto - again tasty but too salty for her

It all looks quite nice, but just not to our taste. It's a $39 upcharge, so not hugely expensive as speciality restaurant costs go these days, but I wouldn't do it again.

I have a small glass of wine, but struggle to finish it, so we're back in the room and in bed at 9.00 pm. The clocks go back an hour tonight and we're in Costa Rica tomorrow with an 8.00 am start for our tour.
